This tutorial is specially designed for the WordPress beginners, who have just started with WordPress.
After this tutorial, you will learn what essential things to do after installing a WordPress blog. You need to follow the some must to do things, after a WordPress standard installation. Follow the below 5 things must do after creating a WordPress blog.
Below is the list of To Do Things:
Alway delete default Post, Page, and comment after WordPress installation. For deleting the Post go to dashboard => Posts and click on All Posts option. Now select the post and click on the delete option to delete.
Now navigate to the Pages => All Pages and click on the All Pages option. Select the Page and click on the delete option to delete the default WordPress page.
Now navigate to the Comments => All Comments and click on the All Comments option. Select the Comments and click on the delete option to delete the default WordPress Comments.
Now set your timezone, navigate to the Dashboard => Settings => General and click on the General sub-menu option. If you are from India, Select Kolkata from the drop-down menu and click on the Save Changes button to save your timezone changes.
After completing the first step the second step is set your permalinks for your WordPress posts and pages. Go to the Dashboard => Settings => Permalink and click on the permalink sub-menu option. Select the Post name option and click on the Save Changes button.
Now navigate to the Dashboard => Settings => Media and click on the Media sub-menu option. On this screen define the image sizes for Thumbnail image, Medium image, and Large image. You can also organize your uploaded images in uploads into month- and year-based folders and click on the Save Changes button to save your media setting changes.
The 4th step is to Enable/Disable the user registration in your WordPress blog/website. Go to the Dashboard => Settings => General and click on the General sub-menu option. Now search “Membership” and checked the “Anyone can register” option if you want anyone can register with your blog/website or keep unchecked.
This is the final step to set WordPress discussion/comments settings for you blog/website. Go to the Dashboard => Settings => Discussion and click on the Discussion sub-menu option. Now select the default article settings and other comment settings as per your requirement and click on the Save Changes button to save your changes.
Once you have done with above 5 steps, then it’s time to installing Themes and Plugins.
