Hi fellow WordPress enthusiasts, hope you are doing good. Are you facing issue to upload the large files on your WordPress website?
If your answer is yes, then this tutorial is designed for you. In this tutorial, I will explain how to upload the large file in WordPress website.
Sometimes you are facing issue while uploading the large images from Media section of Admin panel, by default WordPress have to limit to upload the image. The maximum upload file size is 100 MB, you can see this limit by visiting dashboard => Media => Add New.
If you need to upload the file larger than 100 MB, then you can set your large file upload limit by simply using the below code at the end of your theme’s functions.php file.
/*upload large file*/
@ini_set( 'upload_max_size' , '250M' );
@ini_set( 'post_max_size', '250M');
@ini_set( 'max_execution_time', '500' );
This is the another option to increase the uploading file size limit by using the htaccess file. However, it may be this not work for some WordPress sites.
Login into your server via FTP client software like FileZilla and go to the root directory of your site. Now open the htaccess file and add the below code inside this.
php_value upload_max_filesize 250M
php_value post_max_size 250M
php_value max_execution_time 500
php_value max_input_time 500
If above both option will not work for you, then add the below inside your PHP.ini file and restart the server. If you have not accessed of PHP.ini file, then contact your web host company.
upload_max_filesize = 250M
post_max_size = 250M
max_execution_time = 500
